How to Apply for Access Wireless

Applying for Access Wireless happens in two parts. First you qualify for Lifeline through the National Verifier and get an approval code. Then you complete the Access Wireless application with that code, your ID and proof of address. Access Wireless says activation follows within 7 to 10 business days after approval, and eligible new customers get a free phone.

This guide covers both parts, the documents to have ready, and what happens after you are approved. For the company overview, read our Access Wireless review. For the program behind every free government phone, see how to apply for Lifeline.

California LifeLine works differently: you get a PIN from the California LifeLine Administrator and can sign up at events, participating Kroger stores or retail sites. See Access Wireless California LifeLine for the steps and the 6 GB plan.

After you’re approved

If something goes wrong

If your National Verifier application was denied, our guide to a denied Lifeline application matches each reason to a fix. For order or activation questions, see Access Wireless customer service. If you already have Lifeline with another company, you can move it with a Lifeline transfer.

To compare Access Wireless with other companies first, see our Lifeline providers guide. If you get SNAP, a current SNAP letter is usually the fastest proof.
