The main Assurance Wireless customer service number is 1-888-321-5880, open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time. Assurance also lists 1-888-898-4888: its home page labels it general inquiries, and its contact page gives it for coverage questions. Many account tasks, like switching phones, checking usage or resetting your PIN, can be done online at myaccount.assurancewireless.com.
This page lists every contact Assurance publishes, which one to use for each problem, and what to do when customer service cannot fix it. For a company overview, see our Assurance Wireless review. For the program behind the free government phone, see how to apply for Lifeline.

Assurance’s contact page does not list an email address, a live chat or a TTY number. Phone and My Account are the main ways to get help.
If your Assurance phone is the one with the problem, call from a different phone. Most of Assurance’s help pages ask for this, because a phone without service cannot reach the agent.
What 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central means where you live
The hours are the same every day, including weekends. Here is what they are in other U.S. time zones:
| Your time zone | Customer care is open |
|---|---|
| Eastern | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Central | 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Mountain | 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Pacific | 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
During daylight saving time, Arizona (which mostly stays on standard time) lines up with Pacific hours. Hawaii and Alaska customers should call earlier in their day.

Assurance lifeline phone number vs. the Lifeline program’s number
People searching for the “Assurance lifeline phone number” or the “Assurance government phone number” usually want 1-888-321-5880. That is the number for anything about your Assurance phone, plan or account.
The Lifeline program itself has a separate number. USAC’s Lifeline Support Center, at 1-800-234-9473, handles National Verifier applications and yearly renewals in most states. Assurance cannot approve or deny your Lifeline eligibility. It can only enroll you once the program says you qualify.
| Question | Call |
|---|---|
| “Why is my phone not working?” | Assurance, 1-888-321-5880 |
| “Did my Lifeline application get approved?” | Assurance for its application; USAC at 1-800-234-9473 for the National Verifier |
| “I got a renewal letter. What do I do?” | The program that sent it (see the table below) |
| “Someone else is using my Lifeline benefit” | Assurance first, then USAC |
Managing your account online
My Account saves you a phone call for many tasks. To log in, enter your Assurance phone number and six-digit account PIN. Assurance texts a six-digit code to your phone, and you enter it to reach your dashboard.
Once you are in, Assurance says you can:
- See your plan and active services.
- Check how much data and talk you have used.
- See past and upcoming payments (for paid add-ons).
- Update your email address.
- Change your PIN.
- Swap to a new phone or buy one.
Forgot your PIN? On the login screen, enter your phone number, choose “Forgot Account PIN?”, answer your security question, and Assurance texts you the PIN. To change a PIN you know, go to Edit My Contact Information, then Security Information, then Account PIN. A new PIN must be six digits and cannot match your last five.
Recertification is not handled by Assurance
Your yearly Lifeline renewal is run by the program, not by Assurance. Assurance lists who contacts you:
| Where you live | Who handles recertification |
|---|---|
| Most states | USAC’s National Verifier, 1-800-234-9473 |
| California | California LifeLine Administrator, 1-877-858-7463 (Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.), or californialifeline.com |
| Texas | Texas LIDA, 1-866-454-8387 |
| Oregon | Assurance stopped offering Lifeline in Oregon on April 1, 2022; Oregon residents pick another company through Lifeline.Oregon.gov |
Our guide on how to recertify Lifeline covers the 60-day deadline. Assurance also reminds customers to talk, text or use data every 30 days to keep the benefit; see the Lifeline 30-day usage rule.
Before you call
- Have your Assurance phone number, account PIN if you set one, and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- For a new or replacement phone, have its IMEI (dial *#06#).
- For a replacement SIM, have the SIM card number. It is printed on the white card the SIM came on, or on the SIM itself.
- To move a number from another carrier, have that carrier’s account number and port-out PIN.
- Write down the date, agent name and any ticket number.
Common customer service problems and quick answers
Phone order has not arrived. Assurance says most orders arrive within 2 business days, with tracking sent to the email on your application. Friday evening and weekend orders, and orders to a P.O. box, can take longer. Call if it has been more than 10 days.
Lost or stolen phone. Call right away to suspend the line. You then have 45 days to replace the phone and reactivate. After that, Assurance says you lose the service, phone number and any balance.
Unlocking a phone. Assurance unlocks phones it provided once they have been active for at least 12 months, as long as they are not reported lost or stolen. Eligible phones that support remote unlock are unlocked automatically within two business days. Deployed military members in good standing can ask for an early unlock with deployment papers.
Canceling. Assurance says you can cancel any time by calling 1-888-321-5880. There is no online cancel option listed. If you only want to switch companies, you do not need to cancel first; the new company handles the transfer.
A store phone is defective. Phones from the Assurance online store (run by Quality One Wireless) carry a one-year manufacturer warranty if new, or a 60-day warranty if refurbished. Report shipping damage within 48 hours of delivery.
If customer service cannot fix it
If a problem keeps coming back, such as weak coverage where you live, you can move your benefit to another company with a Lifeline transfer. Compare options in our Lifeline providers guide. If you suspect someone used your details to sign up or move your benefit, see free government phone scams for where to report it. Your eligibility, whether through income or SNAP, stays with you.
You can also file a complaint about phone service, billing, number porting or unlocking with the FCC’s Consumer Complaint Center at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov, or call the FCC at 1-888-225-5322. California LifeLine customers can bring complaints to the California Public Utilities Commission at 1-800-649-7570.
