TruConnect customer service runs through one main number, 800-430-0443, which TruConnect’s own contact page lists as open Monday to Saturday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific, for both phone calls and live chat. That line covers activation, service problems, plan questions and unlock requests. Devices and orders bought from TruConnect’s online shop go somewhere else: 1-888-434-5890, a line run by Q1.
Most things people call about are faster in the MyTruConnect app or at my.truconnect.com. This page matches each problem to the channel that can fix it, and says plainly where TruConnect publishes nothing. For plans and coverage, see our TruConnect review.

One warning about the hours. TruConnect’s contact page says Monday to Saturday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific. A consumer-advocacy contacts page updated August 30, 2026 lists something narrower: Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific. Those do not agree. Treat TruConnect’s own page as the better source, but if you are calling early or late, the window may be shorter than the site says.
If the phone with the problem is your TruConnect phone, call from a different phone or use chat. A dead line cannot sit in a queue.
The MyTruConnect app and TruConnect My Account
The app is called My Account by TruConnect on Google Play, published by Truconnect Communications, Inc. On September 21, 2026 that listing showed 4.4 stars from 47.6K reviews, last updated August 20, 2026. It is also on the Apple App Store. If you would rather not install anything, the same TruConnect My Account opens at my.truconnect.com in a browser.
The TruConnect login is what trips people up. It asks for your TruConnect phone number or the ICCID printed on your SIM card, which you can scan or type. So a new customer whose line is not active yet can still get in using the SIM number.
What TruConnect lists the app for:
- Watching data usage during the month, so you know before it runs out.
- Paying for a paid plan or add-on.
- Adding a Top Up when data or international minutes run low.
- Earning TruRewards by watching videos, taking offers or referring people, then spending them on top-ups.
- Finding and connecting to free Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Renewing your Lifeline eligibility.
Transferring your number in. TruConnect handles port-ins through the app, not the phone line. Get three things from your old carrier first: the account number, the number transfer PIN and the billing ZIP code. Then open MyTruConnect, go to the menu, choose Transfer Your Number, and enter your current number, current carrier, account number and transfer PIN. Once TruConnect confirms the number is eligible, you tap “transfer” to submit.
TruConnect quotes the transfer at 24 to 48 hours and SIM delivery at 7 to 10 business days. It states no port-in fee. Do not cancel your old service first. Canceling releases the number and the transfer can fail.
Which channel fixes which problem
| Your problem | Start here | Why |
|---|---|---|
| No service, no data, calls fail | 800-430-0443 or live chat | The care line covers technical faults. First check the line was used in the last 30 days. |
| SIM card never arrived | 800-430-0443 | TruConnect quotes 7 to 10 business days. Call once that window passes. |
| You want to keep your old number | MyTruConnect app, Transfer Your Number | Port-ins are submitted in the app, not on the phone line. |
| Data used up before month end | MyTruConnect app | Usage and Top Ups both live there. TruRewards can pay for a top-up. |
| Phone lost or stolen | 800-430-0443, right away | Reporting stops someone else using the line. See lost or stolen phone replacement. |
| Unlock request | [email protected] or 800-430-0443 | Needs 365 days of activity and an account in good standing. See our TruConnect unlock and warranty guide. |
| A phone you bought is late or faulty | 1-888-434-5890 | Orders, returns and RMAs sit with Q1, not TruConnect care. |
| Yearly recertification | MyTruConnect app, my.truconnect.com, or USAC | TruConnect can remind you. Only USAC can approve you. |
| You want to stop the benefit | 800-430-0443 | A provider has two business days to de-enroll you once you ask. See how to cancel Lifeline. |
| A street agent signed you up without consent | 800-430-0443 first, then the FCC | The hardest calls. Write down names and dates. See free government phone scams. |
What to have ready before you contact them
Agents ask for the same details every time. Two minutes of writing beats a transfer.
- Your TruConnect phone number, or the ICCID from your SIM if the line is not active yet.
- Your ZIP code. TruConnect plans vary by ZIP and state, and the agent needs yours to see what you have.
- Your name, address and date of birth exactly as they appear on the application.
- The last four digits of your Social Security number, the way the Lifeline application asks for them.
- Your application ID, if USAC sent you a letter. The recertification phone system asks for it.
- Your old carrier’s account number and transfer PIN if you are moving a number.
- Your phone’s IMEI. Dial *#06# to see it.
- Paper and a pen, for the date, the agent’s name and a ticket number. Ask for one before you hang up.
Recertification: TruConnect reminds you, USAC decides
Every Lifeline customer proves eligibility once a year. TruConnect can remind you and pass a renewal through its app, but the decision belongs to the federal program.
TruConnect states the rule the way USAC does: you have a 60-day window to recertify. Miss it and USAC mails a notice within 2 to 3 business days after the window closes, then de-enrolls you automatically 5 business days after it ends. Service may be shut off or a bill may appear.
Three ways to recertify, per USAC:
- Online at getinternet.gov, the National Verifier site. Fastest.
- By phone at (855) 359-4299, entering the application ID from your letter. This works only when no proof documents are needed. For Tribal ID recertification, call (800) 234-9473.
- By mail, to the Lifeline Support Center, PO Box 1000, Horseheads, NY 14845.
Our guide on how to recertify Lifeline every year walks through each one.
California runs on a different clock. TruConnect’s California renewal page says the state administrator mails you a renewal form 105 days before your anniversary date, and you get 45 days from the date on that form to send it back. TruConnect says it also notifies customers 90 days out by mail, email, text and inside the MyTruConnect app.
| California contact | What it handles |
|---|---|
| (877) 858-7463 | California LifeLine Administrator, renewals and your renewal deadline |
| (866) 272-0357 | Requesting a reprint of a renewal form |
| (888) 858-7889 | TTY line for the California LifeLine Administrator |
| (800) 649-7570 | CPUC Consumer Affairs Branch, appeals and complaints |
One caution: the income figures still printed on TruConnect’s California renewal page are dated June 2022 to May 2023, so ignore them. Our California LifeLine guide has the current rules.
When the answer is not TruConnect
TruConnect cannot approve or deny your Lifeline eligibility. That belongs to the Lifeline National Verifier, run by USAC for the FCC, and TruConnect points customers there itself.
The Lifeline Support Center is (800) 234-9473, open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern. Press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. USAC also takes email at [email protected].
| Question | Who owns the answer |
|---|---|
| “Do I qualify for Lifeline?” | The National Verifier, (800) 234-9473 |
| “Was my eligibility approved?” | The National Verifier. See how to check Lifeline application status |
| “Why was I denied?” | The National Verifier, which holds your documents |
| “I am approved, so where is my TruConnect SIM?” | TruConnect, 800-430-0443 |
| “Someone else is claiming my benefit” | TruConnect first, then USAC |
| “My TruConnect phone has no signal” | TruConnect, 800-430-0443 |
If you are not sure which system you are stuck in, our Lifeline National Verifier guide shows where the federal step ends and the company step begins.
If TruConnect support cannot resolve it
Three free escalation routes, in the order most people should use them.
1. The FCC informal complaint. File at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov under Phone Issues, which covers billing, equipment, coverage, number porting and unlocking. You can also call 1-888-225-5322. Once the FCC serves a qualifying complaint, the FCC says “the provider is required to respond in writing to the complaint within 30 days of receipt of the complaint,” and must copy you on it. That written answer is often what moves a case that stalled on the phone.
2. Your state public utility commission. Most states regulate telephone service through a public utilities or public service commission, and many take Lifeline complaints. NARUC publishes a directory of all of them.
3. California, specifically. The CPUC Consumer Affairs Branch handles disputes with telephone providers under CPUC authority. Call 1-800-649-7570, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., use the CPUC online complaint form, or write to the Consumer Affairs Branch, California Public Utilities Commission, 505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102-3298.
What the record looks like, with dates
TruConnect is a real Lifeline carrier, designated by state commissions and paid through the federal program. The record is mixed, and both halves matter.
The better half: the Better Business Bureau rates TruConnect A+, and it has been a BBB Accredited Business since September 13, 2021. On Trustpilot, TruConnect holds a TrustScore of 4.0 out of 5 from 36,425 reviews, 67 percent of them five stars and 16 percent one star. Trustpilot notes the company has replied to 100 percent of negative reviews.
The harder half: the same BBB profile shows 283 total complaints in the last three years, 67 closed in the last 12 months. By theme, service disruptions lead at 139, then product or device issues at 68, customer service failures at 21, sales and enrollment practices at 17, and billing at 15. The 17 enrollment complaints describe street and door-to-door agents making false eligibility claims, often to older people and people with disabilities.
Read that in proportion. Any carrier with hundreds of thousands of lines collects complaints, and complaint sites draw unhappy customers more than satisfied ones. But the biggest bucket, service disruptions, is what this page is about.
What TruConnect does not publish
Checked September 21, 2026:
- No dedicated Spanish phone line. TruConnect publishes Spanish-language material, but no separate Spanish number could be verified. The single number 800-430-0443 is all that is documented.
- No hold-time data. No average wait, no callback option, no queue position anywhere on the site. Anyone quoting you a TruConnect hold time is guessing.
- No readable support articles. TruConnect’s help portal at support.truconnect.com blocks automated reading, so its articles on activation, replacement policy and lost or stolen devices exist but could not be checked here. Ask an agent, and write the answer down.
- No store list we could confirm. TruConnect names four California retail cities on its contact page and runs a locator at truconnect.com/locations, but that page would not load for us. For “TruConnect near me,” call 800-430-0443 and ask, or check the locator yourself. USAC also runs a ZIP-code lookup of Lifeline companies at cnm.universalservice.org, though it warns the results may not list every company near you.
- No plan data figure. TruConnect describes its Lifeline offer only in general terms, and the data amounts on its older pages predate the end of the ACP in June 2024. Ask what your ZIP code actually gets.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing customers can dial 711, the free federal relay service, and ask the operator to connect to any TruConnect number.
When switching companies is the better fix
Sometimes the problem is not the queue. If coverage is bad where you live, or another carrier offers more data in your ZIP code, no agent can fix that.
You do not need to cancel TruConnect first. The new Lifeline company runs the transfer and the benefit moves with you. Our guide on how to transfer Lifeline to another provider covers the steps and timing.
Two rules before you move. Only one Lifeline benefit is allowed per household, so a second line for the same household gets rejected: see the one-per-household rule. And you must use the service at least once every 30 days, on any carrier, or you get a 15-day notice and then lose the benefit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the TruConnect customer service phone number? 800-430-0443, listed on TruConnect’s contact page as open Monday to Saturday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific, for phone and live chat. A third-party page lists narrower hours, so confirm if you are calling early or late.
How do I log in to TruConnect My Account? Use the MyTruConnect app or go to my.truconnect.com in a browser. The TruConnect login takes your phone number or the ICCID printed on your SIM card, which the app can scan.
What is the MyTruConnect app for? Checking data usage, payments, Top Ups, earning and spending TruRewards, free Wi-Fi, renewing Lifeline eligibility, and submitting a number transfer.
How do I keep my phone number when I join TruConnect? Get your account number, transfer PIN and billing ZIP from your old carrier, then use Transfer Your Number in the MyTruConnect app. TruConnect quotes 24 to 48 hours for the transfer and 7 to 10 business days for the SIM. Do not cancel your old service first.
Is there a TruConnect store near me? TruConnect names retail stores in Huntington Park, Chula Vista, Panorama City and Chino, California on its contact page, and runs a locator at truconnect.com/locations. That locator would not load for us on September 21, 2026, so call 800-430-0443 to confirm before driving anywhere.
How do I request a TruConnect unlock? Email [email protected] or call 800-430-0443. The device must have been active at least 365 days, must not be flagged lost or stolen, and the account must be in good standing. TruConnect confirms eligibility within two business days. You get only five attempts to enter the code before the SIM slot locks permanently.
Can TruConnect tell me why my Lifeline application was denied? Usually not. Eligibility decisions belong to the National Verifier. Call the Lifeline Support Center at (800) 234-9473, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, seven days a week, or email [email protected].
What do I do if a TruConnect agent signed me up without my consent? Call 800-430-0443 and ask for the enrollment to be reversed, in writing. If that goes nowhere, file an informal FCC complaint at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov. The provider must respond in writing within 30 days and copy you on it.
